Windows 11’s Notepad to Soon Gain Spellcheck and Autocorrect Features

Microsoft is reportedly adding spellcheck and autocorrect features to the Notepad app on Windows 11, according to PhantomOcean3’s recent tweet. The toggles for these features are now visible in Notepad’s settings page, but they are not yet available to the public, but Testers can now access the new spellcheck support.

Once implemented, users can choose which file types to use spellcheck and autocorrect for, such as .txt, .md, .srt/.ass, .lrc, and .lic. also Microsoft has implemented several new features in Notepad. These include a dark mode, tabs, Copilot AI integration, and a virtual fidget spinner.

Notepad has been a basic app in Windows for over 40 years, with a straightforward feature set. However, Microsoft has been giving it more attention in recent years, such as adding a dark mode and tabs. The addition of spellcheck and autocorrect features is a welcome development, but some users are concerned that these features might turn Notepad into a more complex word processor like Wordpad.

Despite these concerns, remains a popular and valuable app for many users, especially for coding and quick note-taking. The addition of spellcheck and autocorrect features will undoubtedly enhance its functionality and utility for users on Windows 11.
