India vs Zimbabwe 3rd T20I Highlights
India Takes 2-1 Lead in Series with 23-Run Win
India secured a crucial win in the 3rd T20I against Zimbabwe, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Chasing 183, Zimbabwe fell short by 23 runs, ending at 159 for six. India showcased a clinical performance with both bat and ball.
Match Highlights
Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad propelled India to 182, while Washington Sundar’s three wickets for 15 runs anchored the bowling attack. Avesh Khan also contributed with two wickets. Zimbabwe struggled initially, managing 60 for 5 in the first ten overs. However, a 77-run sixth-wicket stand between Dion Myers and Clive Madande brought them back into the game. Myers scored his maiden T20I fifty, finishing unbeaten on 65 off 49 balls.
Zimbabwe’s misfields and dropped catches aided India’s strong total. India scored 182 for four in their 20 overs after opting to bat first. Zimbabwe made a superb comeback despite India’s strong total. India reached 50 in just 4.1 overs, with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill off to a blazing start, looking set for a massive score. However, Zimbabwe’s bowlers pulled things back effectively.
Post-Match Interviews
Shubman Gill said, “Was a crucial match for us and the way we started with batting and bowling, it was remarkable. We just wanted to keep hitting the length with the ball as well. We know if there is something in the wicket, it will be there for the bowlers. Everyone has contributed, right from openers, to bowlers.”
Sikandar Raza, the Zimbabwe captain, attributed their loss to poor fielding, saying, “Think it is the fielding again. We are very proud of it but the wheels are coming off again. We gave away 20 runs extra. We still have problems at the top, but we are backing the boys. I know they are trying and once they do, we will come good again.”
Series Update
India’s squad received a boost with the inclusion of three players who were key to their successful T20 World Cup campaign: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube. Zimbabwe must approach the rest of the series strategically, focusing on mastering the basics and realistically assessing their aspirations.
